Stanton Friedman - Astronomy Versus Ufology
For more than 70 years the astronomical community has made comments about UFOs. Almost always they have been negative and to the effect that there is nothing to them: lights in the sky and they almost always can be explained as poor observations by uneducated believers. They have done their research by proclamation rather than investigation. They have falsely told the world that not only is there no satisfactory evidence, but that interstellar travel is impossible, that the reported accelerations cannot be withstood by humans, that governments cannot keep secrets, that if aliens were visiting Earth, they would certainly have made their presence known to the powers that be and especially to the astronomical community.. Reviewing their books and papers, one finds almost no references to the appropriate literature. The basic rules seem to be “Don’t bother me with the facts, my mind is made upâ€. and “what the public doesn’t know, I won’t tell themâ€, and “if one can’t attack the data, pretend it doesn’t exist, and attack the peopleâ€. It is strange that almost all astronomical research is concerned with inanimate things seen at a long distance through a tiny window and not with nearby highly maneuverable craft observed by normal people and performing activities that we can’t duplicate.
